Fit tips & inspiration to simplify your health journey.
#FAITHFOCUS HEBREWS 2:1 “We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.” #FITFOCUS: SWEAT DAILY There's a quote that says, "No one accidentally drifts towards success." And I believe we can all agree this is true! We don't wake up one morning to surprisingly find we've lost those 20 lbs we've been struggling to lose or to find a large amount of money in our savings account that wasn't there the day before. We tend to drift away from our goals... away from what we know is right, better and especially honorable to God. But this verse tells us how we can work towards NOT drifting away! And that's to pay careful attention to the TRUTH we have heard! As we focus on all 6 of our F619 SWEAT principles this week, we encourage you to pay careful attention to what you already know is true about being healthy and honoring God. Be mindful to practice as many principles as possible, or choose to focus on one that has been neglected as of late: #1 SLEEP Remember that you need at least 6 hours of sleep each night to regulate your hormones, repair your muscles and reset your mind. #2 WATER Drinking half your bodyweight in oz of water is your DAILY goal. Determine your daily need and then make a plan how will can reach that goal. #3 EAT CLEAN Get back to the basics and just start eliminating one thing that you know is unhealthy by substituting it with a healthier option. Or get back to meal prepping, tracking your food or finding new recipes to restart your journey. #4 EXERCISE Training your body with exercise will benefit you not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually! Aim for 3-5 sessions a week, incorporating strength, cardio, flexibility and core. Join our SWEAT CLUB for weekly LIVE sessions you can do with us from the comfort of your home! #5 ACCOUNTABILITY You can't manage what you don't measure, so make sure to set your SMART goals and create measurements of progress and boundaries to be accountable to them! Need help? Please contact me! #6 TIMED NUTRITION Learning when to eat is just as important as knowing what to eat. It's important to refuel after your workouts and then train your body to eat on a schedule that fits your lifestyle and accounts for your goals. Choose a window to eat within between 8-12 hours and then an interval you'll eat within that window. And lastly, PRAY about your journey & REPEAT! Let us know how you're SWEATing this week! I will put my laws in their minds, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. Hebrews 8:10 Some would joke that the New Year really doesn't begin until February, as we are still trying to adjust to making changes in January! Whether those changes are healthier eating habits or simply getting caught up on unfinished business, making lasting changes is simply a challenge! This week as we focus on Hebrews 8:10, I am encouraged that true transformation isn't my burden to carry alone. But the Holy Spirit is working in me to transform me from the inside out. I am learning to filter my daily throughts through God's Word and then seek the Holy Spirit's guidance to show me how to respond. Sometimes, I need to replace that thought (or lie) with Truth and believe God's promises. And sometimes I need to embrace that thought and follow in obedience. For example, sometimes I struggle with feeling appreciated for all that I do as a "work-at-home-mom". And I feel like no one cares and no one helps me and on and on. My inclination is to be frustrated and then yell at my kids and act resentful towards my husband... BUT when I take those thoughts and feelings (that have not been expressed verbally, but i assume because no one is meeting my expectations), and surrender them to God, He reminds me that possibly my family just needs a gentle reminder to help me by picking up after themselves and completing their daily chores. Granted, it's not easy, but there is so much more peace in my home if I can practice responding with gentleness rather than fits of anger! So, as I cooperate with Him, by first letting Him renew my mind with knowledge of His Truth and then lining up my heart's desires with His Will, changes in my body and behavior will manifest as a result! We are all a work in progress and although I have not accomplished all I have wanted to for the beginning of 2018, I am so grateful for the small ways I have grown in learning to discern God's Voice and practicing being obedient to Him in response to His amazing and faithful love for me. Eating clean can be the most challenging and overwhelming aspect of being healthier!
But if you can practice one healthier eating habit each day, rather than an ALL OR NOTHING approach, the transition will become part of your lifestyle and be more doable and sustainable! Try one of these simple, but effective strategies to help you eat cleaner and healthier! #FAITHfocus--1 CORINTHIANS 4:20
The Kingdom of God does not consist in talk, but in power! #SWEATfocus--ACCOUNTABILITY Create a SMART goal, make a plan & SHARE it! Every week, we encourage (and challenge) each other to create SMART goals, make a plan to reach them and then SHARE them with our SWEAT Club and a friend. Because we all know, it is not enough to SAY we want to do something or change something... We have to find a way to make it happen! And SHARING SMART GOALS helps us do just that... because there is POWER in sharing our journey-- there is power in accountability! Here are some basic Guidelines to get started: 1. CONTROL YOUR GOAL Remember, a Goal is something you can control. So focus on HABITS you can practice and establish over time, versus RESULTS that you are hoping for in a certain amount of time. 2. MAKE YOUR GOAL SMART Specific--what is it that you will do? Measurable--how will you track your progress? Accountable--who will you share your goal with and how often will you follow up? Realistic--is this goal achievable Timed--when will you start and how much time will you need to achieve it? 3. CREATE A PLAN OF ACTION To achieve your goal or make progress, what action steps do you need to take? 1. What is one thing you need to stop doing? 2. What is one thing you need to start doing? 3. What is one thing you need to continue to do? 4. RE-COMMIT DAILY Write your goals and action plan down and re-commit to it daily by checking in with yourself and your accountability partner regarding your progress. Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit? You are not your own. You were bought with a price. Therefore, Honor God with your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19, 20 |
