Today's Reading: 2 Samuel 11-13
Then The Lord sent Nathan to David. And he came to him and said to him...12:1
A lot happens to David and his family in these 3 chapters--bad choices and the consequences of those choices. But there is a man named Nathan who confronts David and pushes him to repentance.
Three things I learned from my study Bible today:
1. We all need someone in our lives who will speak God's Truth into our situations, and especially our mistakes.
2. We need to be ready to be that someone for someone else.
3. To be that person and receive instruction from that person, we need to be SECURE, which means we need:
-An understanding of God's Truth
-A real and authentic relationship with God and others
-To find our identity in Christ, not in others or in the culture's standards
-Live each day with deep conviction
-To be humble and willing to move when God prompts us.
Do you have someone like this in your life right now? Are you this person to someone else? What can you do daily to develop into this type of person and establish a relationship with this type of person?
I have several people who help me become more aware of my shortcomings and mistakes--my immediate family and 2 friends I repeat dearly. And I do reciprocate and speak into their lives as well. But I know I can continue to develop into a better leader by daily seeking God through His Word and Prayer and putting into practice and sharing the things that I learn!
