Read John 5-7
Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.” Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. (John 6:29, 35 NLT)
Have you ever wondered why Jesus was likened to bread and believing in Him likened to water? Why does the Bible associate our faith with food?
Lysa Terkeurst shares that God knew we would understand the physical connotations of being physically hungry and thirsty...and knew if we could relate those to our spiritual hunger, we would be able to better understand what a relationship with Him was supposed to be. And what's more, what a healthy relationship with food should be.
Jesus was saying that when we surrender to Him and believe in Him, we will be completely satisfied--whatever our needs are will be met, and we will be cared for.
What do you need to surrender and believe God for today? Better health choices? Better financial decisions? Better relationships? Whatever it is, He is willing and able to care for you!
