Today's Reading: 2 Samuel 17-19
My verse: 2 Samuel 18:33
Then the king was deeply moved, and went up to the chamber over the gate, and wept. And as he went, he said "O my son Absalom--my son, my son Absalom--if only I had died in your place!
David was king--he had everything most people strive for today...power, status, material wealth. But one thing he did not have was peace with his family.
As we pursue excellence and our calling, we cannot neglect the people around us whom God is sending us to share His love with. We cannot forget that people are at the heart of God's plan--especially our family.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to value people over status, power, wealth or anything else that would cause regret or distract us from the calling you have placed on our lives. In Jesus' Name. Amen!
