Need to catch up!! Idk where the time went, but getting back on track!
Thursday: Mark 9-11
10:27 "Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”
The context of this Scripture is talking about entering the Kingdom of Heaven, and how it is impossible without God. Lysa TerKeurst also applied this to being healthy in that anything that requires sacrifice is impossible on our own, but completely possible with God's help. So, this was encouraging reminding me that all the things that I am prompted to do for God's kingdom, no matter how small or how big, are possible because He is with me and will empower and equip me to accomplish those things.
Friday: Mark 12-14
14:38 "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."
Pastor Gene @ Highpoint touched on this today...He talked about making margin in your life to hear from God so that you can discern His will. When I make time to watch and pray, I empower myself to resist temptation--to control the desires of my flesh, whether that is regarding eating unhealthy, giving with the right intentions, managing my emotions, and other daily decisions that I face. My flesh is weak and will always seek out the path of least resistance. That is why I MUST make time to seek God and hear from Him so that my Spirit will be strong enough to stand firm and follow God's leading.
Saturday: Mark 15-Luke 1
Luke 1:45 "You are blessed because you believed that the Lord would do what he said."
This verse brought so much peace to me...knowing that when I believe--when I trust--God and His Word, I am blessed. Joseph Prince says that part of being blessed is having your needs met as they arise. So, I can serve God without fear and in holiness and righteousness (v74 & 75).
Sunday: Luke 2-4
Luke 4:14 "Then Jesus returned to Galilee, filled with the Holy Spirit's power. Reports about him spread quickly through the whole region."
So verse 14 comes after Jesus is tempted by Satan in the wilderness...I thought this was interesting because instead of having less energy and less power, Jesus returned FILLED with the Holy Spirit's power. That's encouraging to me because that shows me that after I OVERCOME temptation, I will have MORE power than before. This helps me to accept temptation and see it more as an opportunity to grow and mature.
What are your thoughts on any of these verses?? My goal this week is to stay on track by making more margin in my mornings (like I used to) so that I don't have to play catch up again and miss out on what God has for me each day!
