There are so many benefits to exercising, and there are so many excuses to NOT exercise.

Whether you are a beginner or exercise regularly, it's worth understanding the importance of moving your body daily for your health. Exercise is not just good for your physical body...its benefits transfer over into your mental and spiritual fitness, too!

PHYSICAL FITNESS

A general rule of thumb is 30-60 minutes of activity 3-5 times a week for health benefits. This means you can break up the time throughout your day into 10-15 minute intervals. Activity can be light to moderate to vigorous, depending on your physical conditions and goals. This is important to understand because not all activities are appropriate for all persons. The key is to find activities you enjoy (or tolerate to begin with) that will give you the health benefits you seek.

Exercise is more than just walking or running--it can include playing with your children, swimming, gardening or anything that increases your heart rate enough to get your blood pumping and increase your core body temperature. Try incorporating activities into your everyday life, as well, for example climbing stairs or parking further in the parking lot. Adding some structured exercise such as group exercise or running is recommended for expedited results.

Foundations 6:19 uses group interval training which can be modified for all fitness levels. Workouts incorporate the four main components of fitness: cardio, strength, core and flexibility.
